Our Story

Acknowledgement of Country

Jessie’s Place Early Learning Centre acknowledges the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, play, and learn.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Teachers of this land. We are committed to embedding respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives into our everyday practice, recognising Country as the first teacher.

Service Philosophy

Thrive to Five and beyond – A Strong Foundation for Life

At Jessie’s Place Early Learning Centre, we believe the first five years of a child’s life are the most influential in shaping lifelong learning, wellbeing, and confidence. Guided by our philosophy, “Thrive to Five and beyond – a strong foundation for life,” we are committed to nurturing children, supporting families, keeping children safe, and building strong community connections.

Children at the Heart of Our Practice

We view every child as capable, curious, and full of potential. Children are respected as active participants in their own learning journey, with their voices, choices, and individuality valued and honoured. Our environments are intentionally designed to inspire exploration, creativity, and discovery, supporting children to develop resilience, problem-solving skills, autonomy and a love of learning.

Children’s safety and wellbeing are central to everything we do. We are committed to providing safe, nurturing, and empowering environments where children feel secure, supported, and valued — a true home away from home.

Partnerships with Families

Families are children’s first teachers, and we value the knowledge, experiences, and perspectives they bring. We build respectful, collaborative partnerships with families that support shared decision-making, open communication, and meaningful engagement in children’s learning and development.

We believe strong partnerships between families and educators provide the best foundation for children’s safety, wellbeing, and lifelong learning.

Strong partnerships between families and educators are central to quality outcomes for children. Families are encouraged to share information that supports their child’s wellbeing, routines, interests, learning and culture.

Open communication from the beginning of enrolment supports consistent, responsive care and helps children feel safe, secure, and confident in their new environment.

Community Connection

Children thrive when they feel connected to their community and develop an understanding of their place within it. Jessie’s Place fosters meaningful connections with local organisations, schools, cultural groups, and community services to support children’s learning, belonging, and transition to school.

We are committed to sustainable practices and to supporting children to develop respect for people, place, and the natural environment. Through everyday experiences and intentional teaching, children are encouraged to care for their environment, understand their impact on the world around them, and develop a sense of responsibility that extends beyond the service.
