Our Approach

Belonging, Being and Becoming

Our educational program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF v2.0) and its principles of Belonging, Being and Becoming. We create inclusive and welcoming environments where children feel a strong sense of identity, connection, and belonging.

“The early years are not just preparation for life — they are life.”

Our Educational Program

Our educational program is delivered in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF v2.0) and supports children’s holistic development across:

Communication & Creativity

Learning is play-based, intentional, and responsive, reflecting each child’s interests, strengths, and developmental stage. Educators plan, document, and reflect collaboratively to ensure learning experiences are meaningful, inclusive, and culturally respectful.

Children’s learning and development are documented regularly and shared with families through OWNA, enabling families to remain connected to their child’s daily experiences and learning journey.

Our Learning Environments

Our indoor and outdoor environments are intentionally designed to:

  • promote exploration, curiosity, and creativity
  • support safe risk-taking and physical development
  • provide opportunities for active play, calm spaces, and quiet reflection
  • ensure children are always supervised

Environments are reviewed regularly through daily safety checks and formal risk assessments to identify and manage hazards and support children’s health, safety, and wellbeing.

Child Safety

At Jessie’s Place, child safety and wellbeing are at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and secure environment where every child feels protected, supported, and valued. Our practices are guided by the National Quality Framework and underpinned by robust policies, proactive risk management, and consistent supervision to ensure children’s safety at all times.

All educators at Jessie’s Place are trained in child protection and mandatory reporting and understand their responsibility to recognise, respond to, and report any concerns relating to a child’s safety or wellbeing. We maintain strict procedures to ensure concerns are handled sensitively, confidentially, and always in the best interests of the child.

We take a proactive approach to safety through daily risk assessments, secure environments, and clear supervision practices. Our policies support safe environments across all aspects of care, including health, nutrition, supervision, and emergency management, ensuring every child is consistently protected throughout their day.

Rooms and Age Groupings

Children are grouped in rooms according to their age and developmental stage. Room groupings may be adjusted over time to support individual children’s needs, friendships, and transitions.

Transitions between rooms are planned thoughtfully and occur at a pace that reflects each child’s readiness. Families are actively involved in transition planning to ensure continuity of care and making sure everyone feels comfortable, safe and supported.
